YES THAT SNARE SOUND IS INCREDIBLE...I remember when I first heard it on "Yours is no Disgrace" and "Perpetual Change"....That CRACK kills me everytime!!!!

Holdsworth's Genius was all over the Bruford stuff...In addition to AH's melodic guitar playing was Jeff Berlin's INSANE bass playing..With Billy in the back kickin it hard!!!!

I told you not to get me started....LOL!!!!

Bill Bruford=One of a Kind. LOL!

U can't help but love someone who made a career out of "rimshots" while grooving in odd times and being one of the most tasteful drummers in proggresive rock music. Unfortunately, I think Bruford's solo albums sound a little outdated by today's standards. That's not to take anything away from the incredible musicianship of course. But the synthesizer effects and roto-toms aren't likely to win many new fans to the these releases. His work on Earthworks is amazing ofcourse, and one project which I doubt anyone would check out is Gordian Knot which was put together by Sean Malone(Note: while talking about Jaco, Sean did a VERY good book called "A Portrait of Jaco"[Hal Leonard], killer transcriptions from sum of Jaco's best work along with sum nice descriptions of the tunes-structures/motifs and what not), Gordian Knot has released 2 albums and Bruford shares the throne with Sean Reinert(Death, Cynic, Portal, Aghora) who's amazing as well!--->

PS-I'm glad someone mentioned his snare, especially on "Close to the Edge"(Yes), "Red"/"Discipline"(King Crimson), It' s dry, raw, snappy, and perfect for that kind of music

    Regarding the Bruford/Genesis:

I think Bill was excellent on The Cinema Show and other parts that could be played in a sloppy manner. When he played Apocalypse in 9/8 from Supper's Ready, it's a joke. Also, anything to do with tightness and the man just sounds bad with the exception of "Heart of the Sunrise". Maybe I'm used to Chester's playing, but I felt he was a bad fit for Genesis. If you have the video for the 76 tour, you can see Mike and Tony looking at each other for cues while Bill plays. He was an amazing drummer with Yes/Crimson/UK, but I don't like his live work with Genesis. Entangled was awesome on that tour (except for the wrong notes on the xylophone by Bill!) Especially the added bass pedals for the chorus. I'm almost convinced Wind & Wuthering wouldn't have come out so soon in 76 if they felt Bill was a better fit.
